There is one "Apres Ski" bar at the main base lodge of Monarch - Sidewinder Saloon. That's it! It's mellow. If you want a guaranteed good time, bring your own crowd. There is plenty of seating.

Breakfast and Lunch: The base of the Monarch Mountain is the only place on the mountain where one may buy food. There are no mid-mountain or summit lodges. The base lodge has a basic breakfast and lunch for a comparatively reasonable price. Another reason Monarch is family friendly.

Dinner: Salida is a town (it has a Walmart, gun store and liquor store; it qualifies) with a wonderful historic core with shops, art galleries, restaurants and bars. It is often overlooked by most lists of ski towns but Salida's adorable downtown and proximity to Monarch Ski Resort make it a secret that is bound to get out.

The mountain base closes down early. By 5:00pm it is almost deserted. The nearby town of Salida however is a totally different story as it goes on till past midnight. Try the Victoria (bar, pool table and ping pong).
Salida Colorado: The Victoria bar. Note that locals travel by bike.
